A man from Swansea has been jailed after admitting to supplying cocaine and cannabis, as well as driving whilst disqualified.

37-year-old Gavin Jones, from Townhill, was spotted by officers driving a vehicle which was not registered or insured to him in Swansea city centre on New Year’s Eve last year.

Police National Computer (PNC) checks then confirmed that Jones was disqualified from driving.

Jones’s vehicle was then inspected, during which messages linked to the supply of drugs began appearing on his mobile phone.

A quantity of cannabis was found at Jones’ address, as well as cash amounting to £1,930 concealed inside a sock.

On his arrest, Jones was also in possession of the key to another vehicle. Officers later inspected this vehicle and found twelve snap bags containing a white powder inside the central console. These were tested and confirmed to be cocaine.

Jones pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of cannabis, possessing criminal property, driving whilst disqualified and using a motor vehicle without third-party insurance.

He has been sentenced to 53 months in prison.

Sergeant Luke Tucker said:

“Gavin Jones has a clear and obvious disregard for the law, something which is shown in his lengthy charge sheet.

“However, he now knows that the law applies to him. He will hopefully come to regret his involvement in supplying Class A drugs, which has now cost him years of his life.”
