Ffion Morgan, a 28-year-old interior designer born in Swansea, has been selected to join the international design team behind Nemo Heights (https://nemoheights.com/), an unprecedented luxury underwater residential development planned for Point Nemo, approximately 4,000 metres below sea level.

Born and raised in Swansea, Ffion attended Bishop Gore School before graduating with a BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture and Design from Swansea College of Art (University of Wales Trinity Saint David). She later continued her studies in London, completing a Master’s degree in Interior and Spatial Design, where she specialised in complex and unconventional environments.

During her academic career, Ffion developed a strong research focus on design for extreme contexts, particularly luxury yachts, cruise ships and marine habitats. This approach led to collaborations with design studios in the UK and across Europe.

Commenting on her appointment, Ffion said:
“Being selected for Nemo Heights is an incredible milestone. Swansea is a city deeply connected to the sea, and I believe that relationship has shaped my approach to design. Bringing a part of my hometown into such a visionary project is something I’m truly proud of.”

The Nemo Heights project is inspired by the vision of George Heights, an Apollo programme engineer in the 1960s. Today, his vision has been reimagined by his sons, Robert and James Heights, as a new frontier of human habitation. Scheduled to become operational in 2029, the development will function as a self-sustaining underwater ecosystem combining advanced ocean technologies with cutting-edge sustainability.

Promoted as “The Deepest Luxury”, Nemo Heights will accommodate up to 400 residents and offer unique experiences including underwater expeditions to observe the Pacific Ocean’s bioluminescent marine life.

Ffion will be responsible for designing the interiors of the residential units, blending high-end living with the unique challenges of life at extreme ocean depths and translating her academic research into one of the most innovative architectural projects of the decade.

Her appointment highlights how creative talent born in Swansea and across Wales is gaining recognition on the global stage.
