Swansea, UK – The Bangladeshi Community Swansea is organizing a massive protest on Friday, 26th July, to condemn the ongoing genocide and mass killing of students and civilians in Bangladesh. The demonstration will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Castle Square, Swansea, SA1 3PP, near the city centre McDonald’s.

The recent violence in Bangladesh, perpetrated by the Awami League government and its law enforcement agencies, has resulted in the tragic deaths of 176 students and civilians. Thousands more have been injured, many losing organs due to brutal beatings, and countless others have disappeared or been unlawfully detained under false charges. This systematic crackdown on dissent has turned campuses into war zones and instilled fear across the nation.

The current regime, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has resorted to extreme measures to silence opposition and control public opinion. The media is censored, social communication is blocked, and any form of peaceful protest is met with lethal force. The use of derogatory terms like “Razakars” to discredit and delegitimize protesters further exacerbates the situation, evoking painful memories of the 1971 liberation war.

Purpose of the Protest

  • End the Genocide: Stop the mass killing of students and civilians.
  • Demand Justice: Hold those responsible for the violence accountable.
  • Protect Human Rights: End the torture, unlawful detentions, and disappearances.
  • Ensure Safety: Create safe environments for students and all citizens.
  • Restore Democracy: Call for the resignation of a government that has failed its people and demand democratic reforms.
